Not MacGyver’s JavaScript
One of the first questions you’ll ask when venturing into the world of rich Web applications is, “Is it possible to write JavaScript that doesn’t make other developers cry” As your client side JavaScript gets bigger and more complex, so too does the complexity of your boilerplate code and project structure. Without a larger plan, your JavaScript can end up a soupy mess.
But building JavaScript-heavy applications doesn’t need to be a “fly by the seat of your pants” experience. In this session we will take a look at some of the problems people face when starting to build complex, highly interactive Web pages or single page applications, and some simple patterns you can use to help kick complexity to the curb. This session will illustrate these patterns using the popular, lightweight Backbone.js library, but you can apply them no matter what JavaScript library you use.
